The Digital Future, Digital Countryside conference was held in Rajka, focusing on the development of drone technology and its application in agriculture. The event, which included a presentation, highlighted the opportunities and challenges of digital transformation for rural life and agriculture.
Future technology in Hungarian agriculture
In his speech, Minister of Agriculture István Nagy stressed that Hungary is at the forefront in the development of drone technology. He said that Hungarian agriculture is undergoing a significant transformation, in which the use of digital solutions will play a key role.
“Increasing the efficiency of production, reducing the environmental burden and ensuring the long-term sustainability of farms can only be achieved through digital technologies,” the Agriculture Minister said.
The role of drones in precision farming
He also said that drones have become part of everyday agricultural practice. They allow farmers to spray, irrigate and plan their agro-technological processes accurately. This not only reduces environmental impact but also increases farming efficiency.
Legislative and technological progress ahead
The Ministry of Agriculture’s priority is to create the legal and licensing conditions for the rapid spread of drone crop protection. It also stressed that agribusinesses must have a clear vision, investment plan and adaptability to ensure the long-term success of digital transformation.
“It is important that the development of agriculture contributes to the liveability of the Hungarian countryside and to the supply of food of sufficient quality and quantity,” István Nagy concluded.
